Mosman
The stabilisation of a steep hillside slope at a site in Mosman was carried out using rock bolts and shotcrete techniques. An existing dilapidated buttressed boulder retaining wall over the upper reaches of a portion of the slope was also strengthened using the same techniques. The hillside slope was subvertical, about 12m high and besides the retaining wall mentioned above, included several other existing minor retaining walls which had been constructed in an apparent adhoc fashion. Access to the slope was difficult and required the erection of a complex scaffolding arrangement. The shotcrete was pigmented and stencilled by the contractor to match the strengthened sandstone wall.
